A Radial Wonderland
Project type
Design And Construction
Date
2021
Location
Gaulby, Rutland
This project began during the spring of 2021, and from the initial site meeting, we knew it was going to be something special. The house itself had been designed on a curve, and we saw the perfect opportunity to enhance this unique feature by designing the entire garden based on a single radius point.
The design seamlessly integrated the distinct levels of the house, ensuring every room—each positioned at a different height—was considered in the overall layout. A key element was creating functional yet aesthetic access to a new office we planned to build on the lowest level of the garden.
To complement the house’s modern architecture and industrial aesthetic, we used a combination of Corten steel, granite paving and porcelain. This mix of materials resulted in a soft yet inviting design that not only harmonised with the house’s style but also reflected the client’s desire for industrial elements.
The result was a truly unique garden that embraced the property’s architectural curves while offering practicality, elegance, and cohesion.
